October 27 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Dear Members and Friends of the Austrian-Indonesian Society,
On behalf of our member Dr. habil. Patricia Engel (University for Continuing Education Krems), and in cooperation with our Advisory Board Member Dr. Gabriele Weichart (Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna), I am pleased to inform you about the following lecture.

Prof. Dr. M. Dwi Marianto is a distinguished scholar and professor at the renowned Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, one of Indonesia’s leading institutions of higher education in the arts.
In his lecture, he will present his research on the pucung tree (Pangium edule), an important natural resource in various regions of Indonesia. He will explore its traditional uses, the processing of its seeds, and the wider relationship between local knowledge, human needs and the sustainable use of natural resources.
His presentation offers a fascinating perspective on how cultural practice, environmental awareness and sustainability are closely interconnected.
