Zoom Presentation: Integrated Approaches to Heritage Conservation

February 4, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Diversity is an integrative part of the Indonesian culture, which is emphasized in the national emblem that states “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika”, which can be translated as “Unity in Diversity”. In this way, the conservation of the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Indonesia requires, in particular, a holistic and inclusive approach that takes into account the facets of the interrelation between socio-cultural aspects, nature, and culture.

In Europe as the cradle for heritage conservation, many different fields are working in specialized sectors. Still, the need for methods and ideas for incorporated collaboration between the fields is growing. In this way, the development of integrated approaches to heritage conservation in cooperation between Indonesia and Europe lays at hand.

This presentation will present some general ideas of the current endeavours between TU Wien, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Udayana, Institute Seni Indonesia, Yogyakarta and Universitas Andalas.
