DESCRIPTION:SuperApps: From a Travel Solution to a Business Ecosystem\nCase Study: Jakarta \n  \nDate: Tuesday\, 04.10.2022\, at 17:00\nPlace: Universität für Bodenkultur\, Ilse-Wallentin-Haus\, Room SR21 (level -1)\, Peter-Jordan-Str. 82\, 1190 Wien \n \nAbstract: This presentation is a reflection of a recently completed World Bank’s study which investigated the impacts of SuperApps in South East Asian countries. A superapp can be defined as an ‘umbrella app’ that hosts a wide range of services. The variety of services that have been and could be offered within a single app would have been unthinkable less than five years ago. At present\, various SuperApps operate in various countries around the world\, particularly in newly industrialised countries. For example\, WeChat and Alipay\, which operate mainly in China\, Kakao primarily serves the Korean market\, PayTM focuses on the Indian market and Gojek and Grab are the main players in the Southeast Asia region. The data collection included both qualitative and quantitative methods. In particular\, the impacts of such SuperApps to the business owners\, users and drivers in the Jakarta metropolitan area will be discussed. \nYusak Susilo is the BMK Endowed Professor in Digitalisation and Automation in Transport and Mobility System at BOKU\, Vienna\, Austria. His main research interest lies in the intersection between transport and urban planning\, transport policy\, decision making processes and behavioural interactions modelling. Prior joined BOKU\, he was Full Professor of Transport Analysis and Policy at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology\, Stockholm\, Sweden.
