SUMMARY:AFFANDI - Indonesian Contemporary Heritage and Conservation
DESCRIPTION:We would like to invite you to our event “AFFANDI – Indonesian Contemporary Heritage and Conservation” in the presence of Mrs. KARTIKA AFFANDI\, the daughter of Affandi. \nRegistration link: (form) \nKartika Affandi\, who is celebrating her 85th birthday this year\, is herself one of the most important artists in Indonesia and beyond. She was the one who initiated the restoration of her father’s oeuvre\, drawing attention to the need to train restorers in Indonesia. On the basis of the activities in the Museum Affandi\, curricula for restoration and monument preservation are being developed in cooperation of 5 Indonesian and 4 European universities. \nRelated to this effort\, since 2016\, scientists from the Danube University Krems and the Vienna University of Technology have been working in interdisciplinary projects on methods and concepts for the preservation of paintings\, graphics and architecture in Yogyakarta\, Indonesia\, with the support of ASEA Uninet and the Landsteiner Gesellschaft. \nIn her talk\, Kartika Affandi will talk about her father’s work and the history of the Museum Affandi. Afterward\, Patricia Engel (Danube University Krems) and Ulrike Herbig (TU Vienna) will give an insight into the aforementioned research projects and their results. \n\nPlace: Danube University Krems\, Dr. Ing.
